The Kind Tips – Tips for Life, Study, Work and Entertainment – How to Advertise Your Garage Sale, Tag Sale, Moving Sale or Yard Sale

How to Advertise Your Garage Sale, Tag Sale, Moving Sale or Yard Sale

If you want to be well-prepared for a yard sale, you need to do  a lot of work, you aim to ensure that as many people as possible would be drawn to your sale so as to make more profits. The more people come to the sale, the better economic score would be made. You should bear it in mind that not just the number of people to shop would be an important factor, but the number of people setting up tables with items for sale should be another consideration. No matter whether you do it yourself or make the sale a community effort, if you want to make it a successful one, it depends not only on a large variety of goods for sale but also on getting the word out. The following are some useful tips you could learn if you want to advertise your sale more efficiently.

  1. For the better result, when you intend to make signs to be    placed along sidewalks and streets, you should resort to large, florescent poster board and fat felt markers. You could tape or staple them to poles (but remember to take off all materials when the sale is over) or attach them to wooden stakes.
  2. Place an advertisement in the paper. In some areas you may do this for free of charge, because many community newspapers offer such free ad service for garage sales, yard sales, etc. Some even provide signs as a public service.
  3. Try to put up fliers at neighborhood gas stations and convenient stores as well as on all heavily trafficked streets and at all intersections.
  4. If possible, go to see managers in stores where you shop to  discuss over the possibility of posting fliers about your sale on their bulletin boards, which are accessible both to the public and their employees.
  5. Advertise by word of mouth. You should let your neighbors know you would set up a sale and see whether they would like  to join hands with you. When you have a street with four or five sales in a row, it would certainly attract more potential customers for the event.
  6. Go for free advertising. Many people prefer using Craigslist to sell larger items. However, rather than having a contact number, do tell them to scope out the merchandise in person at your upcoming garage sale.
