Golf Swing Tips on Keeping a Straight Left Arm

Golf Swing Tips on Keeping a Straight Left Arm

If you maintain your left arm as straight as you can when you swing your golf club, you will be able to keep the club in line and also get the face square of your club connected with the ball at the impact point. The result is a solid hit that allows the ball sailing straight down the fairway. You just need a few tips and some practice to achieve such proper golf swing. Here are the quick tips.

1. Practice swings and concentrate on your left arm.

A commonly committed mistake for golf novice is a bent left elbow, also known as “the chicken wing”. In order to help yourself focus on the proper swing, simply imagine your left arm is in cast so you won’t be able to bend it at all.

2. Fully extend your left arm and practice hitting the ball on a practice tee.

In the beginning, you should take some short swings, while make sure the back of your left hand is aiming at the target. Extend your left arm completely through the swing just like if you are pointing your club to your target.

3. Practice with only your left arm.

Take your right arm away from the club and practice swinging and hitting the balls just with your left arm. When you swing the club with only your left arm, the club’s weight and momentum should be able to maintain your left arm as straight as you swing through the ball.

4. Practice for perfection.

Keep practicing until you feel you can hold your left arm straight up through the finish of the swing. Keep yourself in a smooth rhythm when practice. Eventually, you will master the skill and add more accuracy and distance for your golf swing.
