Reducing fat in your diet does not necessarily mean that you have to face a life of tasteless dry meals or fat-free cookie boxes. Whether what your goal is-losing weight or simply trimming the fat, you can achieve your dietary goals more easily with the help of the following tips.

1. Decrease or eliminate foods that are high in fat.

Firstly, you should avoid some animal products that are high in fat, including poultry, red meat, and some dairy products like cream, whole milk and butter. If you do want to eat meat, opt for the leanest cuts of meat, fish and poultry that are available. Before eating chicken and turkey, you can remove the skin. In addition, nuts, butters and olives are all high in fat, and you will want to reduce the amount of the consumption. However, as you do need some fat, you can control the amount to a reasonably low level.

2. Eat healthier foods with low fat.

To get a healthier diet, you can increase the amount of fresh fruits and vegetables. If possible, the best way is to eat them raw. Try to replace the high-fat foods with some low-fat or nonfat alternatives. For instance, you can eat nonfat yogurt instead of regular yogurt, or choose low-fat cheese and skim milk instead of their high-fat counterparts. Also, have some fresh fruits as your snacks. If you like chips, change the fried one to baked one.

3. Look for healthy cooking methods and recipes.

Check healthy cookbooks for new, tasty recipes. It is highly recommended to change your cooking method from frying to broiling, steaming, baking or poaching. When you cook your dishes, use vegetable cooking sprays instead of oils and fats.
